Volunteer Opportunities The coordination of community volunteer resources is a priority of the Houghton County Emergency Measures Office. Volunteers are a valuable resource to the security of our community. Contact Jack Dueweke if you are interested in volunteering for emergency preparedness, response, and recovery positions in Houghton County. The Copper Country Humane Society advises all pet and livestock owners to plan for food, water, and medicines (if necessary) to last their animals a minimum of three days. Farmers and pet owners should have plans for their animal's welfare in case they must evacuate their homes. 487-9560 .
